from 2 Timothy 2:15 is a bible based youth program. Using AWANA
as a tool, our goal at WVCC is to introduce our preschoolers through
6th grade children salvation through the gospel of Jesus Christ and
service to Him.
Each Wednesday night, September -May, a clubber along with their
club leaders come through the doors with smiles on their faces looking forward to what special theme night they may
experience. Preschoolers will go to the Cubbies room where their leaders
will introduce them to who Christ is. Our Sparks kindergarten -2nd grade
will go to their handbook time and recite memory verses from God's word that
they have been studying all week long at home. Their verses are centered on
the truth of who God is and that we can be forgiven for sin. Later in the
evening our Truth & Training clubbers 3rd - 6th grade, will recite their
versus that are built around what we must do to be forgiven for our sins and
how we can serve God after receiving that forgiveness.
The excitement continues to build as the children anticipate
receiving their AWANA uniform and awards for the completion of each handbook
drill from a handbook that is appropriate for each child.
Each week clubbers go to Council Time where they become
familiar with the Bible. This is a time where they may learn the books of
the Bible, have word drills, sing songs, or learn truths on how to live out
the Christian life.
The evening can either begin or end with Game Time, as boys
and girls divide into color teams and compete for team points These points
can be exchanged for special prizes or food treats.
Christmas time is a special time at AWANA Club. The third Wednesday of
December we celebrate a birthday party for Jesus, where clubbers and their
family members will hear the story of Christ's birth and take part in a
special lighting of the cupcakes, which tops off the birthday party.
Service to others is part of our AWANA Club in December we
collect gift items to fill a Christmas stocking that is than delivered to
the Women's Friendship House in Aberdeen. Throughout the year clubbers save
pennies that they bring in each week during February, Our love month in
honor of Valentines. The money that is collected from the penny drive is
sent to an orphanage in Russia that is being sponsored by the Slavic Gospel
Association.
The year comes to a close with our AWANA Grand Prix where clubbers
can bring their cars that they have designed and built from a block of pine
wood. Their cars then compete with others by design and racing with ribbons
and trophies awarded.
Come join us Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:15 pm
